When your cooling tower was originally designed, it was an “engineered” product with input from several disciplines: civil, structural, thermal, electrical and mechanical.
When it comes to repairing that cooling tower, you need to be sure that these same disciplines are considered before actions are taken, particularly in the structural and thermal area. For instance, when comprehensive structural frames are converted from one material to another, the applicable loads and critical connections should be evaluated by a licensed PE experienced in cooling tower design. When changing heat transfer media configurations, an experienced applications engineer should evaluate the effect of the change. When changing air moving equipment, again an application engineer with mechanical experience should evaluate the ratings on the equipment to be certain that horsepower ratings follow appropriate standards and that all selection criteria of the manufacturer have been considered.
At ATS you can be sure we have the expertise to complete evaluations and will do so as appropriate. To state it another way, our systems are engineering based; we are not “parts changers”.
