Condition
Assessments
As with many types of industrial equipment, regular inspection is a frequently needed or requested activity.
The simplest version of a condition assessment (and often the most effective) is to “Kick the Tires”. This involves observing the tower from grade while it is in full operation as well as observation from the fan deck of the tower. When the tower is operation certain deficiencies can be identified that would not be obvious when the tower is out of service. Things like problems in the heat transfer media and water distribution are the issues that will stand out here. Also, by observing the tower from the fan deck, the inspector can gain clues that need to be looked at closer on the interior of the tower and as regards operator safety.
The most detailed version of a proper condition assessment involves a very close look at the interior of the tower. This will include a structural assessment, detailed checks of the air moving equipment and close inspection of the heat transfer media for fouling or other problems.
Of course, as you may have figured out, there are many intermediate versions of a cooling tower condition assessment. Call us today to get one of our technicians on the way to help you determine the best course of action to properly inspect your cooling tower.
